Important points
Tenure and Stipend (monthly)
- For RA : For a maximum period of two years only, Rs. 54,000/- per month (HRA as admissible as per rule). No extension is in respect of RA.
- For JRF : For a maximum period of two years only, Rs. 31,000/- per month (HRA as admissible as per rule). It is extendable as per rules for JRF, subject to satisfactory performance to be assessed by a committee.
Upper Age Limit:
- As on closing date of application, 35 years for RA and 28 years for JRF.
- As per government of India orders, upper age limit is relaxable to candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and OBC.

- Email a single scanned PDF file containing the signed Application Form along with certificate in support of minimum educational qualification, matriculation certificate/birth certificate, GATE/NET Score card (if applicable, NOC (Wherever applicable) & caste certificate (if applicable) to hrd@chess.drdo.in and cc to hrd.chess@gov.in before the closing date with email subject “Application for JRF (subject) or RA (subject) as applicable”.
- The last date for receipt of duly filled application through email shall be 21 days after publication of this advertisement in Employment News/Rozgar Samachar.
- Incomplete/partially filled applications are subject to immediate rejection/cancellation.
- CHESS, DRDO Hyderabad will not be held responsible for non-receipt of application/ incomplete application.
- Candidate who have submitted thesis may also apply for RA position. Such candidates will have to produce Ph.D. certificate at the time of interview.

Interview Procedure and Instructions
- Screening of applications and interviews of shortlisted candidate will be carried out via online web-based video conferencing.
- The video conference URL, date and time of interview will be sent beforehand through email.
- Candidates must possess an active email ID for the same and must regularly check their email for interview information till fellowship and award process is completed.
- Interview communication will be sent only to shortlisted candidates.
- Candidates must ensure availability of Web Cam, Internet connectivity and required necessary software at their end to attend the online interview.
- CHESS, Hyderabad will not be held responsible for any communication or connectivity fault during the online interview.
General points to note
- Document verification will be carried out at the time of joining. Shortlisting of all positions will depend on the verification of original submitted documents. In case of any deficiency or discrepancy in documents, candidature will be cancelled with immediate effect.
- Research Fellowship (RA & JRF) shall be governed as per the policy in line with DRDO, MoD, GoI.
- Candidates will be disqualified if found to be canvassing in any form.
- Candidates who do not meet the eligibility criteria need not apply.
- Applicants must remember to mention the subject and position for which he/she has applied.
- The number of posts may decrease or increase without prior notice.
- If candidate is selected, no TA/DA will be paid for joining.
- Any fellowship offered does not ensure permanent position in the employment of DRDO for selected fellows.
- The fellowship shall be awarded entirely at the will of the Laboratory. If there are no suitable applicants, there will be no fellowship awarded and the Laboratory will not be giving any proof of reason for the same.
- No candidate can claim the fellowship as a matter of right.
