Now downloading the Aadhar card is easy and readily available. You don’t need to wait for days for the postman to deliver it to the permanent address that you have given while enrolling for the Aadhar card. There are 8 ways you can download an E-Aadhar card but before that, you must have completed the enrolment process. Individuals can visit UIDAI’s official website and download E-Aadhar and take a print. The downloaded document is password-protected and can be opened by the Aadhar number holder only.

Download by Using your Aadhar Number
Please keep your Aadhar number written on paper or any media of your choice and follow the below steps
- Click eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in
- Select “Aadhar Number” under Download electronic copy of your Aadhaar.
- Enter your 12 digit Aadhar number UID(1111 1111 1111 1111)
- Select the checkbox if you want to download a masked Aadhar card. Ignore if you don’t want.
- In the Captcha Verification field enter the characters you see in the picture.
- Click “Send OTP” button or “Enter a TOTP”
- You will receive an SMS to your Aadhar linked registered mobile number.
- Enter the OTP that you received in the “Enter OTP” field and click “Verify and Download” button. The OTP number is valid for 10 minutes only.
- Download the file and save it to your favorite directory.
- The PDF file is password protected and it is a combination of first four letter of your name (as mentioned in Aadhar) in capital letters and your year of birth in YYYY format. Example: Your name is RAJESH KUMAR and Birth year is 1990. Then your e-Aadhar password is RAJE1990.
Note:
If you have selected “Marked Aadhar” then it downloads the Aadhar card with the Aadhar number masked.
If you have selected TOTP instead of OTP then you will receive A 8 digit One-Time Password to your registered number and is valid for 30 seconds only.
Download by Using your EnrolmentID(EID)
What is Enrolment ID
An enrolment number is a 14 digit number that is present on the acknowledgment slip issued when you have initially visited the Aadhaar Enrolment Centre and filled the enrolment form.
Steps to download
- Click eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in
- Select “Enrolment ID” under “Download electronic copy of your Aadhaar”.
- Enter your 14-digit enrolment number and 14 digit date- time stamp printed on the Enrolment Slip.
- Select the checkbox if you want to download a masked Aadhar card. Ignore if you don’t want.
- In the Captcha Verification field enter the characters you see in the picture.
- Click “Send OTP” button or “Enter a TOTP”
- You will receive an SMS to your Aadhar linked registered mobile number.

Download by Using Virtual ID (VID)
What is Virtual ID(VID)
VID is a temporary, revocable 16-digit random number mapped with the Aadhaar number. A Vid can be used to undergo Aadhaar biometric ID programme verification without disclosing the 12-digit Aadhar number. To generate VID click vid-generation or use mAadhar App and enter your 12 digit Aadhar number.
Steps to download
- Click eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in
- Select “Virtual ID” under “Download electronic copy of your Aadhaar”.
- Enter your 16-digit enrolment number and 14 digit date- time stamp printed on the Enrolment Slip.
- Select the checkbox if you want to download a masked Aadhar card. Ignore if you don’t want.
- In the Captcha Verification field enter the characters you see in the picture.
- Click “Send OTP” button or “Enter a TOTP”
- You will receive an SMS to your Aadhar linked registered mobile number.

Download by Using your Name or Date of Birth
- Click lost-uieid.
- In the Select Option Select either “Aadhaar No (UID)” or Enrolment ID (EID)
- Enter your Full Name
- Enter your Mobile number or Email Address
- In the Captcha Verification field enter the characters you see in the picture.
- Click “Send OTP” button or “Enter a TOTP”.
- You will receive your “Aadhaar No (UID)” or Enrolment ID (EID) as selected in the 2nd step.
- Note down the nuber and click eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in and follow the steps described earlier

What is mAadhaar App
mAadhar is a mobile app available on android and iOS. This is an official application introduced by the Unique Identification Authority of India. You can download it by clicking mAadhar (available on Android ) or mAadhar (available on iOS)
Steps to download
- Launch mAadhar App installed on your phone.
- If you are launching it for first time then it will ask you to enter your registered mobile number. Enter the mobile number and OTP. If successfull it will show to “All Services” screen
- On the “All Services” screen click”Download Aadhar” option.
- It will ask you to select 1 option from 3 options “Aadhar Number”, “Virtual ID Number”, “Enrolment ID number”. Select Aadhar Number if you know the Aadhar number likewise.
- Follow the steps and download the Aadhar number.
Download using DigiLocker
What is DigiLocker
DigiLocker is a mobile app available on Android and iOS an initiative by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to provide access to virtual documents. In this app, you can store your documents like PAN card, Driving license, Insurance policy documents, Voter ID.
Steps to download
- Download the DigiLocker app on your mobile and complete the signup process if you have not.
- Sign in to Digilocker.
- On the main screen under “Central Government” select “Aadhar”.
- Enter your Aadhar number and OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number.
- Enter the OTP.
- The downloaded copy will appear under the “Aadhar card” section.
Download using Umang
What is Umang
UMANG is available as a web application app and mobile app for e-governance. This is an initiative by the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). All the DigiLocker services are integrated into UMANG.
Steps to download
- Click Umang.
- Register with your registered mobile number and login to the app.
- In the search field enter “Aadhar”
- In the search result select “View & download your Aadhaar Card from DigiLocker Account”.
- Click on “Aadhar Card” section It will ask you to connect to DigiLocker. Complete the process.
- You can view Aadhar Card on the Umang App.
- Steps 2-6 can be repeated if you want to download E-Aadhar on the mobile Umang App.
Download without Registered Mobile Number
UIDAI recently announced that Aadhar cardholders can download the Aadhar card without a registered mobile number and no need to visit the nearest enrolment center to request the same. This option is also called “Order Aadhaar PVC Card” and this allows Aadhar cardholders to get their Aadhaar details printed on PVC card by paying nominal charges. This Card has security features like Secure QR Code, Hologram, Ghost image, Issue Date & Print Date.
Steps to download without Registered Mobile Number
- Click myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/genricPVC.
- Enter your 12 digit Aadhar number/28 digit Enrolment ID.
- Enter Security code.
- Click “My mobile number is not registered” and enter your new mobile number.
- Click “Send OTP”.
- Enter the OTP that you received and complete OTP authentication.
- ’Preview Aadhaar Letter’ screen will be shown for further verification.
- It will ask you to “make payment” and complete the online payment. The Charges to be paid are Rs.50/- (Inclusive of GST & speed post charges).
- Once the payment is completed. You will then need to give digital signature of yours in order to download the PDF.
- At the end a 14 digit “Service Request Number” will be generated through SMS to your newly registered mobile.
- A new Aadhaar PVC Card will be delivered to your registered addess and you can used “Service Request Number” to track the same.
